PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the number of expressible gradations by varying the number of times and the order of ejection of ink droplets in the case a pixel is formed by ejecting ink droplets maximally by N times while moving an ink head in a printer for forming ink dots for a plurality of times for one pixel. SOLUTION: A mechanism for reciprocally moving a carriage 31 in the platen 26 axial direction by a carriage motor 24 is provided such that an ink head 28 having a black ink cartridge 71 and a color ink cartridge 72 for three colors including cyan, magenta, and yellow, mounted on the carriage 31 is driven for forming an image. At the time, ink droplets are ejected at a desired position on a printing medium during movement of the ink head 26 by N times so as to complete formation of a pixel maximally by N ink droplets. By utilizing difference of pixel densities generated by difference of the number of times and the order of ejection of ink droplets during the movement by N times, the number of expressible gradations is increased.
