PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain the high quality as just after the production for a long time when a hydrolyzable substance is to be transferred or stored, by using a desiccant consisting of magnesium chloride, magnesium oxide and a water holding agent consisting of magnesium hydroxide and other water holding substances in each specified proportion. SOLUTION: The desiccant used consists of 100 pts.wt. of magnesium chloride, 40 to 60 pts.wt. of magnesium oxide, and 30 to 70 pts.wt. of a water holding agent consisting of magnesium hydroxide and other water holding substances. As for the magnesium chloride, its anhydride having high moisture absorption is preferably used. The magnesium oxide is preferably a lightly calcined magnesia or calcined magnesia having large activity. The magnesium hydroxide may be in a granular or powdery state, and a substance having a rather large surface area is effective. As for the water holding substances, silica, vermiculite, barite, bentonite and diatomaceous earth or the like are preferable.
