PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stave for cooling the furnace wall of a blast furnace which can be stood up to use for a long period by adopting a strong structure. SOLUTION: In the stave made of copper or an alloy consisting essentially of copper for cooling the furnace bottom or the furnace body, the stave body 1 and the output parts of water supplying and draining tubes 2 are formed as an integral structure, and the jointing part between the water supplying and draining output tube and the water supplying and draining piping, is arranged at the furnace outside on the side wall iron shell of the blast furnace. Further, in addition to, plural load supporting points 8 in direct contact with the side wall iron shell of the blast furnace, are disposed at the four corners of the stave or in the inner part thereof. Since the strength of the water supplying and draining output tube is improved and the expanding pressure of a brick is uniformly transferred to the iron shell, the reliability of the copper-made stave can be improved by avoiding the stress concentration to the water supplying and draining output tube.
