PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the heat efficiency of a fuel cell by providing a reformer body, in which a catalyst causing the reforming reaction is packed, a burner for heating the reformer body and a heat recovery wall arranged at a joint part of the reformer body to the burner. SOLUTION: A reforming device 1 is provided with the reformer body 20, a combustion part 21 and a steam generator 22. Steam generated in the steam generator 22 and a hydrocarbon based fuel gas are mixed, the mixture is introduced into a catalyst layer 43 and heated to the reaction temp. or 700-800 deg.C by the combustion gas generated by the burner 52 to be converted into a reformed gas containing hydrogen and carbon monoxide. The heat recovery wall 72 is arranged in the joint part 71 of the reformer body 20 to the burner 21, and a water pipe 73 extending from the heat recovery wall 72 is connected to the steam generator 22. The water supplied into the heat recovery wall 72 is heated by the heat of the combustion gas from the burner 52 to be introduced into the steam generator 22 through a water pipe 73. Because the heat in the joint part 71, where the heat is remarkably released, is recovered and introduced into the steam generator 22, the calorific value necessary for vaporizing the water in the steam generator 22 is reduced. |
