PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve joining strength while maintaining the performance of a membrane module by interposing an assistant layer between a support and a membrane element and joining the support and the membrane element by welding or adhering via the assistant layer. SOLUTION: The assistant layer 5 is interposed between the support 1 made of an ABS resin, etc., having rigidity and the membrane element 3 made of a polyolefin, etc., having a filtration function. The support 1 and the membrane element 3 are joined via the assistant layer 5 by a method, such as welding using heat or ultrasonic waves, etc., or press bonding or adhering, etc. The strength of the joined portion may be improved and peeling may be eliminated even when a positive pressure is generated as compared to the case the membrane element 3 is directly joined to the support 1 according thereto. The same material as the material of the support 1 and the membrane element 3 is used as the assistant layer 5. Further, a porous material is used as the assistant layer 5. The support 1 and the membrane element 3 are melted and the inside of the porous material is impregnated therewith.
