PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel shutoff valve control device for use in an internal combustion engine to work with a gaseous fuel, in which exfoliation of sticking in the shutoff valve is conducted properly and effectively. SOLUTION: A fuel shutoff valve control device for controlling the electromagnetic opening/closing motions of a fuel shutoff valve of a fuel injection device calculates and stores the time from closing of the valve, when engine is stopped to the stop of the engine and senses the temp. of the engine cooling water and the pressure of gas fuel when the engine is started. On the basis of the time, temp. and pressure obtained, the time for opening the fuel shutoff valve with a large current is calculated, and the valve is driven with a large current for the time period determined by calculation.
