PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shutter having an obstacle sensing function, which halts falling when a shutter curtain makes contact with an obstacle when falling, and restarts the falling after removal of the obstacle, to thereby close an open ing. SOLUTION: A shutter having an obstacle sensing function includes a floor board switch 14 attached to a floor board 5, for sensing contact with an obstacle, a transmitter 10 for transmitting an obstacle sensing signal when existence of the obstacle is sensed by the floor board switch 14 and for transmitting an obstacle elimination signal when the obstacle is removed, and a receiving sensor 12 for receiving these signals. When the obstacle sensing signal is supplied, falling of a shutter curtain 2 is immediately halted, and thereafter when the obstacle elimination signal is supplied, the shutter curtain 2 is allowed to fall again after the lapse of a predetermined time period, whereby an opening is totally closed. Therefore, when this shutter is applied to a fire shutter or a smoke protecting shutter, spread of smoke and flames can be positively prevented.
