PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a repairing method for tar decanter that permits the permanent repair of liquid spills from the tar decanter, the collection tank or the like. SOLUTION: The communicating tubes 15a, 15b which are equipped with the switching valves 14a, 14b that branches from the more upstream side than the decanter inlet valves 13a, 13b for the inflow pipes 6a, 6b and communicates to the more downstream side than the decanter inlet valves 13a, 13b for the inflow pipes 6a, 6b are installed between the inflow pipes 6a, 6b for the tar decanters 7a, 7b adjacent to plural series of coke oven gas purification process. While one series of tar decanter is repaired its liquid spill, the decanter inlet valves 13a or 13b or the switching valves 14a or 14b is operated to inflow the mixture of the gas liquor and coal tar via the communicating pipe 15a or 15b into the other adjacent tar decanter 7a or 7b and the operation of the one tar decanter series is stopped and the liquid spill part is repaired.
