摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a refractory containing no chromium oxide and not causing environmental pollution problem by hexavalent chromium by regulating the content of an alumina cement in a binder so as to be not less than a specific proportion, and the contents of melted zirconia particles and alumina particles in the refractory particles so as to be within a specified proportions. SOLUTION: This refractory is the one containing 90-99 wt.% refractory particles consisting essentially of melted zirconia particles and alumina particles, and 1-10 wt.% binder. The content of alumina cement in the binder is regulated so as to be >=30 wt.%, and the contents of the melted zirconia particles and alumina particles are regulated so as to be 5-50 wt.% and 50-95 wt.% respectively. The total amount of the melted zirconia particles and the alumina particles is preferably >=85 wt.%, and the melted zirconia particles preferably contain monoclinic ZrO2 and 3-25 wt.% glass. The binder including oxide ultrafine powder in combination with the alumina cement is preferably used as the binder. The refractoy is excellent in corrosion resistance, penetration resistance and spall resistance.
