PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a new modified stannic oxide-zirconium oxide combined sol and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The stable sol is composed of modified stannic oxide-zirconium oxide combined colloidal particles having particle sizes of 4.5-60 nm and the sol contains total metal oxides in an amount of 2-50%. Each particle of the modified stannic oxide-zirconium oxide combined colloidal particles has a nucleus which has the structure that colloidal particles of stannic oxide and zirconium oxide are bonded in the weight ratio of ZrO2/SnO2, of 0.02-1.0 and which is composed of the combined colloidal particle of stannic oxide-zirconium oxide having a particle size of 4-50 nm, and the surface of each nucleus is coated with combined colloidal particles of tungsten oxide-stannic dioxide-silicon dioxide, in which the weight ratio of WO3/SnO2 is 0.1-100 and the weight ratio of SiO2/SnO2 is 0.1-100 and which have particle sizes of 2-7 nm. |
