PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an inexpensive stainless steel sheet excellent in ductility, ridging resistance and surface quality after working by allowing it to have a compsn. contg. a specified ratio of N, in which N/C is controlled to a value equal to or above a specified one, and a specifiedγP value satisfies a specified value. SOLUTION: This steel sheet has a compsn. contg., by mass, 0.03 to 0.055% N, in which N/C is controlled to >=0.5, andγP value defined by the formula in the formula, each of C, Si, Mn, Al, Ni, Cr, V, Nb and N denotes the content (mass %) of each element} satisfies 30 to 55. Preferably, it a stainless steel sheet having a compsn. contg., by mass, 0.02 to 0.06% C, <=1.0% Si, <=0.05% P, <=1.0% Mn, <=0.01% S, <=0.03% Al, 0.03 to 0.055% N, 11 to 30% Cr and <=0.7% Ni, satisfying >=0.5 N/C, in whichγP value defined by the formula satisfies 30 to 55, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities and moreover contg. one or two kinds of 0.03 to 0.15% V and 0.005 to 0.020% Nb.
