PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a synthetic medium capable of growing a plurality of different bacterial strains sufficiently, containing a carbon source, a buffer, a nitrogen source, a very small amount element, an antioxidant and vitamins, and useful for culturing lactobacillus by including sufficient amounts of a plurality of free bases, etc., for accelerating the growth of each of the microorganisms. SOLUTION: This synthetic medium contains >=2 free bases such as adenine, one kind of ribonucleoside and two kinds of 2'-deoxynucleosides in sufficient amounts for accelerating the growth of each of microorganisms, and also a carbon source such as glucose, a buffering agent such as KH2PO4/K2HPO4, a nitrogen source such as an amino acid, a very small amount element such as a calcium compound, an antioxidant such as ascorbic acid and a vitamin such as nicotinic acid. Further, it contains the ribonucleoside and deoxynucleotide by 0.3-0.5 g/l, preferably 0.1 g/l, and by using the medium, it is preferable to grow a lactobacillus belonging to the genus Lactobacillus and/or Bifidbacteria, and also perform an identification and/or isolation of a bioactive molecule or a functional metabolic product.
