PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire severance point orienting system adapted to a nongrounded three-phase, three-wire transmission/distribution line, rarely affected by disturbance factors such as weather and a load, capable of accurately detecting a wire severance, and capable of accurately orienting a wire severance point of the transmission/distribution line. SOLUTION: This wire severance detecting system is provided with a detection line installed in parallel with a nongrounded three-phase, three-wire transmission/distribution line, one end of the detection line is grounded, and a current measuring means 3 for measuring the induction current flowing in the detection line is provided on the detection line. A zero-phase voltage measuring means 6 is provided on the transmission/distribution line. A slave station 1 having a surge detecting means and a surge information transmitting means is provided on each steel tower of the transmission/distribution line. A master station 2 receives and calculates the surge information of the slave stations 1 and the induction current information from the current measuring means 3, thereby a wire severance point of the transmission/distribution line can be accurately oriented.
