PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the appearance of contamination and flaws on both front and back sides of a phosphor sheet and prevent the picture quality from degrading due to the appearance of a picture image artifact, by holding both lateral faces opposite to each other of a storage phosphor sheet containing stimulable phosphors with rollers and rotatively driving and moving them. SOLUTION: A stimulable phosphor sheet 1 consists of a transparent support 11 and a stimulable phosphor layer 12 placed on it. A conveying means 2 puts rollers 21a and 21b into contact with two lateral faces opposite to each other of the phosphor sheet 1, and driving power is imparted by drive motors 22a and 22b. The phosphor sheet 1 fed by the conveying means 2 is appropriately held onto the rollers 21a and 21b by the pressure from nip pressure regulating means 24a and 24b, is put into contact with the rollers 21a and 21b that are rotated in opposite directions respectively at the same speed by the driving power transmitted from the motors 22a and 22b via belts 23a and 23b respectively, and is shifted and conveyed in the Y direction shown by the arrow at a constant speed.
