PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a sintered nickel electrode for an alkaline storage battery capable of enhancing a utility factor without reducing charge efficiency at high temperature. SOLUTION: This manufacturing method comprises a process for filling an active material mainly composed of a nickel hydroxide in a sintered porous nickel substrate, a process for forming an yttrium hydroxide layer on the surface of the active material by conducting an alkaline treatment after the sintered porous nickel substrate filled with the active material is immersed in an acid salt aqueous solution of yttrium and a process for physically removing a part of the yttrium hydroxide layer deposited on the surface of the sintered porous nickel substrate by brushing with a wire brush, etc. |
