PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp lighting device operating without the use of element with high breakdown voltage. SOLUTION: A diode D3 is turned on, while a transistor Q1 is on to cause a drop of the cathode potential of a trigger stop diode D4, and electric charges on a capacitor C5 are discharged. Because the time constant of a resistance R1 and capacitor C5 at which the capacitor C5 is charged to cause a trigger element Z1 to be turned on, is set in a lag from the switching time of the transistor Q1, the capacitor C5 is kept in a condition of not being charged, as long as the transistor Q1 is in switching operations. When an inverter circuit 15 is in operation with the transistor Q1 in switching motion, the capacitor C5 is not charged, so that there is no need to equip the trigger stop diode D4 with a high breakdown voltage. |
