PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a house management system where the work efficiency can be considerably enhanced and the cost can remarkably be reduced by simplifying the wiring in the case of building up a home security or a home automation system. SOLUTION: The system is provided with a door switch 20 whose on/off state is changed in response to the opening/closing of a door of a house. A switching element 28 is provided with a memory 59 storing its own ID code, an I/O interface 61 that sends/receives data with a controller via a signal line, and a CPU 58 that receives the state of a switch, writes it to the memory as data and uses the I/O interface to transmit the data in the memory to the controller.
