PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the cost by using a heat exchanger unit common to a plurality of kinds of water heaters different in hot water supply capacity. SOLUTION: A heat exchanger block 3 of a water heater having a constitution wherein a spacer block 2 is provided on a burner block 1, the heat exchanger block 3 on the spacer block 2 and further an exhaust block 4 on the block 3 is constituted by juxtaposing a plurality of cuboidal heat exchanger units 3a of the same shape in close contact with each other. In another way, it is constituted by juxtaposing the cuboidal heat exchanger unit 3a and a cuboidal heat exchanger unit 3b having a width twice as large as that of heat exchanger unit 3a, in close contact with each other, and by connecting the end parts of water tubes 6 projecting from the end faces of the heat exchanger units 3a and 3b respectively by a U-tube 7.
