PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coil which can eliminate the need for use of an adhesive which causes deterioration of inductance over aging moreover can protect its core with safety, and can reduce the cost because it has a case commonly usable in vertical and horizontal coils. SOLUTION: A bobbin 2 is made up of a combination of divided bobbins of a half-divided shape. A core 1 has a nearly square shape. A gate shaped part 7 of a case 5 is slidingly fitted into outer magnetic circuits 1a and 1b. The gate shaped part 7 has antirotating part 8 which is engaged with a flange 2d of the bobbin 2 to prevent rotation of the bobbin. The case 5 has a slip-out preventing means, such as a case fixing piece 6 which prevents slip-out of a side grove 7b along the outer magnetic circuit 1b along the side of the core. At least one of the parts of the case 5 corresponding to side surfaces of the bobbin 2 is made an open structure, or a cutout for insertion of a lead terminal is downwardly provided in a bobbin-side cover.
