SOLUTION: In this nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery with a bag- shaped single battery case housing an elliptical rolled generating element having a positive electrode plate, a separator and a negative electrode plate, a positive electrode base material portion 11 which does not hold a mixture layer is present at the roll start portion of the positive electrode plate and is folded back, and a lead 4 composed chiefly of aluminum is ultrasonically welded to the folded portion 10 which does not hold the mixture layer.
