PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a system for inspecting a surface of long plates to be worked which can accurately inspect a finish state in each step of the long plates independently running in a continuous working line. SOLUTION: The system for inspecting a surface of a running long plate 1 to be worked picks up an image of the plate 1 by a digital camera 10, extracts line image data in a direction intersecting an advance direction of the plate 1, displays a synthesized image of bound and synthesized line image data and evaluates a working state. An image of the whole running plate 1 can be synthesized and evaluated by binding image data on corrected still image lines sampled with the use of the digital camera 10, and therefore a finish state in each step of the long plate to be worked running independently on a continuous working line can be accurately inspected without relying on naked eyes.
