PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a handset which does not fall on a floor for a takeup type cord. SOLUTION: In the case of ordinary use, when a handset 1 is picked up, a cord 2 is pulled, a cord takeup shaft 3 is rotated in a direction (a) and the cord 2 is pulled out of the handset 1 just for the picked-up distance of the handset 1. When returning the handset 1, since the force for rotating the cord takeup shaft 3 in a direction (b) is applied, the cord 2 is taken up and recovered in original state. When the handset 1 is inverted so as not to fall, a stopper 5 is rotated in a direction (c) with a stopper shaft 51 as a center by deadweight, is caught on the stopper holding face of a blade part 4 on the cord takeup shaft and disturbs the rotation of the takeup shaft 3, the cord 2 is not pulled out any more and the handset 1 is held. When the handset 1 is taken again, the stopper 5 is canceled and the cord 2 can be put in/out again.
