PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance transmission efficiency by more properly utilizing a general characteristic of a picture where correlation between proximity pixels is high. SOLUTION: Each frame in an image signal is divided into four areas R1, R2, R3, R4, and each area is furthermore divided into an area part R1 (small) in the vicinity of a target pixel or the like and other area part R1 (large) or the like. Vertical or horizontal scanning is applied to each of the areas R1-R4 with priority over the area in the vicinity of the target pixel to detect an object of a transmission pixel (steps S1-S4). For example, in a step 10 in the step S1, vertical scanning first is applied in the area part R1 (small) and when no object is in existence in the transmission pixel in the area part R1 (small), the processing continues to a step S11 to apply vertical scanning to pixels in the area R1 (large). The correlation with respect to the target pixel as to each of transmission pixel objects detected from the areas R1-R4 is respectively calculated and the pixel maximizing the correlation is decided as the transmission pixel.
|
