PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating applicator for forming an under-coating layer of an electrophotographic photoreceptor which makes it possible to obtain copies having good quality for a long period by decreasing the moisture in an under-coating layer forming liquid as far as possible. SOLUTION: This coating applicator has a coating application vessel 2 which is introduced with a coating liquid 3 prepared by dissolving or dispersing inorganic matter and thermosetting resin as essential components into an organic solvent from the feed port of the bottom and allows the liquid to flow over from its upper part, a spare vessel 1 which has a stirrer to house the overflowing coating liquid through return liquid piping 7 and a feed pipe 12 which successively transports the coating liquid withdrawn from the spare vessel 10 to an adsorbent vessel or desiccant vessel 9 and a filter 8 by the action of a pump 11 for filling and introduces the coating liquid into the feed port 5 of the coating application vessel.
