PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stator manufacturing method capable of easily manufacturing a stator whose coil space factor in a slot is high. SOLUTION: This manufacturing method has a twisting process which rotates one linear part 2b, 3b of a U-shaped coil and the other linear part 2c, 3c oppositely in the peripheral direction and twists them, in the state that inclination of a specified angleθis maintained to the radial direction of a rotating center K, and a diameter contracting process which rotates, after the twisting process, the linear part of the U-shaped coil, on the most inside part L in the direction that inclination of the specified angleθis eliminated, and moves the linear part of the outer diameter side of the Ushaped coil to the inner diameter side.
