摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nickel electrode for an alkaline storage battery having excellent corrosion resistance and capable of suppressing the capacity reduction of the battery after it is left intact for a long period. SOLUTION: This manufacturing method includes a first process that a nickel- cobalt eutectic hydroxide layer is formed on the surface of a porous nickel substrate and the hydroxide layer is oxidized via heat treatment under the coexistence of alkali to form a nickel-cobalt oxide layer, a second process that an active material layer mainly made of nickel hydroxide is filled in the porous nickel substrate to form the active material layer on the cobalt oxide layer, and third process that a cobalt hydroxide layer is formed on the active material layer and oxidizing the cobalt hydroxide layer via heat treatment under the coexistence of alkali to form the cobalt oxide layer.
