PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To take measures for charging current and reduce a transmission loss by performing a low frequency AC transmission only in a cable line to be laid. SOLUTION: A commercial frequency transmission system 1 of a power system usually transmits power at the AC voltage of 50 Hz or 60 Hz commercial frequency. An interconnection block 2 formed by an already established transmission line, a cycloconverter 3 for converting the commercial frequency to about a third of that frequency, and a cable line 4 are installed. A cycloconverter 5 for converting the frequency reduced to a third of the commercial frequency back to the commercial frequency, an interconnection block 6 formed by an already established transmission line, and a commercial frequency power system 7 are also installed. By connecting the cycloconvertr 3 to a part of a specified transmission line to reduce the frequency during that part to a third of the commercial frequency, a large capacity and long distance transmission can be performed using an already established CV cable and the power flow can be stabilized even in a complicated power system in the city area. Moreover, a multiterminal structure can be used in the low frequency interconnection.
