PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image pickup device that can always maintain a photographed video image in an excellent state under various photographing conditions and for diversified device functions. SOLUTION: A system control section 21 sets the control mode of noise reduction to a zoom stop mode to control a noise reduction section 18 when an electronic zoom section 17 and a zoom lens 11 are stopped. Then the system control section 21 sets the control mode of noise reduction to a zoom operating mode to control the noise reduction section 18 when either of the electronic zoom section 17 and the zoom lens 11 is active. In the zoom stop mode, a circulative coefficient K of noise reduction changes from a value '31/32' in a region A where the lightness of an object is discriminated brightest to a value '255/256' in a region D where the lightness of the object is discriminated darkest. In the zoom operation mode, the circulative coefficient K of noise reduction changes from a value '3/4' to a value '31/32'.
