PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid agent which has an excellent sterilization effect (disinfection effect) and safety to the eyes and can be used suitably for disinfection, preservation, rinsing, etc., by incorporating a hexamethylene biguanide derivative and a polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) base polymer therein. SOLUTION: This liquid agent consists of an aqueous solution containing the hexamethylene biguanide derivative expressed by formula, the PVA base polymer, a metal ion sealing agent and a buffer. In the formula, X and Y denote the groups respectively expressed by -(CH2)3NH2 or the groups expressed by -(CH2)3NHC(=NH)NHCN, where (n) is within a range of 1 to 500. The content of the hexamethylene biguanide derivative is within a range of 0.01 to 50 ppm. The content of the PVA base polymer is within a range of >=0.001 to <1 wt.%.
