摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate charging from an external power source by initially or preliminarily-charging a main storage device with an engine generator and a rectifier in a hybrid electric vehicle whose main storage device is formed out of an electric doublelayer capacitor battery. SOLUTION: This vehicle is a hybrid electric vehicle which drives an AC motor for driving a vehicle through an inverter by means of the DC output of a polyphase rectifier connected to a polyphase AC generator driven by an on-vehicle engine, or the power of an on-vehicle main storage device 4, wherein the rectifier 3 comprises voltage-type selfexciting converter, and the main storage device 4 comprises an electric double-layer capacitor battery. When the voltage of the main storage device 4 is equal to a prescribed value or less, the main storage device 4 is charged through an engine 1, generator 2, and the rectifier 3.
