PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element having an antireflection film excellent in transmission without absorption loss. SOLUTION: This optical element 1a has an antireflection film comprising a multilayer antireflection film 4a formed on a base material 2 for an optical element, and is provided with an intervening barrier layer 3a between the antireflection film 4a and the base material 2. The antireflection film 4a is made preferably of a material containing at least either of MgF2 or SiO2. The barrier layer 3a is preferably one portion of the antireflection film 4a. |
