PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve workability at the time of mounting a top cover, which can be opened and closed on a main body and to reduce the number of man- hours needed for assembly of an electronic apparatus, such as a facsimile machine and printer. SOLUTION: A top cover construction includes holding parts 81 for securing a top cover 22 with screws at both ends of an upper cover 20, disposed on the underside of the top cover on which a document read part B, an operation panel 73 and the like are placed. The holding parts 81 are provided with cylindrical members 83, in which female threads are cut, and cylindrical members 85 for positioning and an insertion hole 87 for inserting a protruded piece 93 are formed at the lower end of a fixing metal piece 91. For mounting the top cover, the protruded piece 93 of the fixing metal piece is first inserted into the insertion hole 87, then positioning is conducted through the cylindrical members 83 and 85, and the screws 103 are tightened. These operations are sufficient, and operation, such as holding of the fixing metal part 91 with one hand, is not necessary.
