PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform eddy current flaw detection without magnetizing an inspected material by detecting flaw by eddy current after uniformalizing or eliminating the residual strain of the surface layer of the inspected material. SOLUTION: A shot blast means 2 blows sand or steel balls against flat steel W of inspected material by compressed air from the whole direction of the upper/lower directions and the left/right directions. The blast-off force of the shot blast is regulated, the residual strain formed on the surface layer of flat steel W is uniformalized or eliminated at correction by an eddy current flaw detection correcting machine R, and the surface layer is plastically deformed to remove residual stress. Thereafter, eddy current flaw detection is performed by a flaw detecting means 3. In such way, the magnetizing process before flaw detection and demagnetizing process after flaw detection are unnecessary, and eddy current flaw detection is quickly performed and an eddy current flaw detection device 1 can be simplified. Further, scale of the flat steel W is removed by shot blast, and scale removing work after flaw detection becomes also unneccessary.
