PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a piping system, to remarkably reduce number of components and to improve productivity, installing operability by forming a pipeline by providing lift and drainage tubes used commonly for a lift and a drainage, and commonly constituting a circulating pump and a hot water supply pump. SOLUTION: The solar heat water heater comprises a collector 1 having a heat collecting mechanism for collecting a solar heat energy to heat water, and a lift and drainage tube 14 connected to the collector 1 and commonly used for the lift and the drainage. Thus, the drainage from the collector 1 is introduced from a return tube 16 to a hot water storage tank 3 through a drainage port 3a for storage. The water in the tank 3 is discharged from a discharge port 3b, and lifted to the collector 1 by a water supply pump 9 through a discharge side pipeline 10. A switching unit 15 for switching the lift and the drainage is provided at a confluent portion of the tube 14, the pipeline 10 and the tube 16. The unit 15 is controlled to be switched in response to a storage water temperature, a water level or the like of the tank 3 by a controller 18.
