PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an inexpensive light emitting diode array which can emit a large quantity of light. SOLUTION: In a light emitting diode array, in which a plurality of light emitting diodes each having at least a double heterostructure constituted by sandwiching an active layer 13 between lower and upper clad layers 12 and 14, an ohmic layer 15 provided on the upper clad layer 14, individual electrodes 3 provided on the ohmic layer 15, and a common electrode 18 provided on the backside of a common substrate 10 is separately arranged on the substrate 10 in an array-like state, the active layers 13 are composed of N-type layers and the carrier concentrations and thicknesses of the layers 13 are respectively adjusted to be in the range of 1×1017 to 5×1018 cm-3 and 0.05 μm or larger. |
