<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a filter having a filter portion with high resolution and translucency and a black matrix portion being excellent in uniformity and light blocking property, etc., and having a good film quality with reflection of little unwanted light. SOLUTION: This manufacturing method includes the process of forming a filter portion by positioning a light-transmitting substrate comprising a light-transmitting base with a light-transmitting conductive film and a light-transmitting semiconductor thin film formed on predetermined portions thereof, in such a manner that the light- transmitting substrate makes contact with an aqueous electrodeposition solution containing a photoelectrodeposition material containing a coloring material which can be electrochemically deposited as an electrodeposition film, then causing a predetermined area of the light-transmitting substrate to conduct current, and depositing an electrodeposition film electrochemically by use of the photoelectrodeposition material containing the coloring material, and the process of forming a black matrix portion by supplying a current to the light-transmitting substrate and causing a black electrodeposition film containing 75 wt.% or more carbon black pigment having a functional group such as a carboxy group on its surface to be deposited on each electrode portion formed in the part of the light-transmitting iubstrate on which the electrodeposition film is not formed.</p> |
