PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a software simulator for a processor which facilitates the version management and also can perform detailed simulation of each peripheral circuit. SOLUTION: This simulator is provided with a core processor simulator 1, a peripheral circuit simulator, a shared memory for performing data exchange between the both simulators and a communicating means for performing command exchange between the both simulators. Also the simulator 1 is provided with a processor simulating part 2 which executes an instruction in each step, a peripheral circuit simulator managing part 5 which manages peripheral circuit information and a peripheral circuit simulator starting part 6 which starts the peripheral circuit simulator 5 on the basis of the peripheral circuit information managed by the part 5. Data are inputted and outputted through the shared memory while commands are exchanged between the simulator 1 and the started simulator 5 through the communicating means.
