PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oil separator in which refrigerating machine oil can be separated surely by increasing the separation process of refrigerating machine oil. SOLUTION: The oil separator 2 comprises an inlet pipe 9 through which a refrigerant mixed with refrigerating machine oil flows into a container 8 from above, a separation plate 11 having a plurality of passing holes 14 made on the outside of the center of the container 8 and sectioning the container 8 vertically below the inlet pipe 9, and a refrigerant outlet pipe 17 projecting from the bottom face of the container 8 and opening closely to the separation plate 11. An eaves 15 projecting downward from the center of the container side of the passing holes 14 while covering the passing holes 14 is provided on the lower surface of the separation plate 11 and stretched while inclining in the direction of the side wall 10 of the container 8 in order to introduce the refrigerant passed through the passing holes 14 in the direction of the side wall 10 of the container 8.
