PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an oil consumption amount by providing a heat exchanger for an oil connected to an oil reservoir in a refrigerator body by piping to constitute an ammonia automatic oil returning unit, evaporating and separating an ammonia liquid in the oil, and automatically returning the oil to the refrigerator side. SOLUTION: The ammonia refrigerator comprises a refrigerator body having a refrigerator 2A, and an ammonia automatic oil returning device having a heat exchanger 3F for the oil. The body is constituted by connecting, in addition to the refrigerator 2A, an oil separator 2C, a condenser 2E, a receiver 2G, a heat exchanger 2M connected by a pipe 2H at which a solenoid valve 2H1 and an automatic expansion valve 2H2 are mounted, an oil reservoir 2K, an accumulator 20 or the like by piping. Meanwhile, the ammonia automatic oil returning device 3 is constituted by connecting the reservoir 2K and the exchanger 3F through a pipe 3E at which a solenoid valve 3E1 and a valve 3E2 are mounted and to return the oil separated from the ammonia liquid to a refrigerant route.
