PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera whose power consumption can be saved. SOLUTION: The digital camera is provided with a disk driver 1, a control circuit 2, a flash memory 7, a flag processing circuit 8, and a memory 9, and power can always be supplied to the flag processing circuit 8 and the memory 9. The control circuit 2 reads image management data from a disk, writes the read image management data to the flash memory 7 and gives a flag rewrite command to the flag processing circuit 8. The flat processing circuit 8 receives this command to rewrite a flag in the memory 9 to '1', or rewrites the flat to '0' when the circuit 8 detects that the disk is unloaded from the disk driver 1 after that. The control circuit 2 reads/writes the image management data only when the flag is set to '0' when the power supply of a camera main body is set to ON.
