PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fault detecting method and a fault detecting device which is more robust against an error in position/angle and realizable as easily as possible. SOLUTION: An image picking up part 12 picks up the image of an inspection object, an image inputting part 14 generates an image and an inspection image extracting part 20 extracts one or plural images at prescribed positions and with prescribed sizes in the image as an inspection image. Also, a partial image extracting part 22 extracts all partial images which are located within a prescribed range from a position corresponding to the inspection image and are as large as the inspection image among images representing normal inspection images stored in an image storing part 16. A difference detecting part 24 compares the inspection image with all of the partial images to detect different parts and a difference storing part 28 stores the number of pixels or the areas of the different parts when the number of pixels or area of the different parts become smallest and detects a fault on the basis of the different parts. |
