PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nickel-hydrogen storage battery having a large discharge capacity and restraining a rise in internal pressure of the battery during charging. SOLUTION: This sealed nickel-hydrogen storage battery includes battery cans 1, 2, 3, a hollow negative electrode 5 disposed inside the battery cans 1, 2, 3 in such a way as to make electrical contact with the battery cans 1, 2, 3 and using a hydrogen storage alloy as negative electrode active material, a positive electrode 7 disposed inside the negative electrode 5 and using nickel hydroxide as positive electrode active material, a separator 6 positioned between the negative electrode 5 and the positive electrode 7, a positive electrode current collector 4 inserted in the positive electrode 7, and an electrolyte filling the battery cans 1, 2, 3 and impregnating the positive electrode 7, the negative electrode 5 and the separator 6. The positive electrode 7, the negative electrode 5, the separator 6, the positive electrode current collector 4, and the electrolyte account for 75 vol.% or more of volume within the battery cans 1, 2, 3. The negative electrode 5 is a solid electrode with a porosity of 15 to 45%, obtained by sintering hydrogen storage alloy powder. |
