PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow one electronic device to use both a wired remote controller and a wireless remote controller with a simple configuration. SOLUTION: A control section 110 is provided with one port 111 that is used to output and input remote control data, a remote control terminal 123 is connected to the port 111, a transmission means 132 and a reception means 134 are connected via a transmission buffer 131 and a reception buffer 135 so as to obtain a configuration where the state of the reception buffer 135 is switched at least to a high impedance state or an operating state. When the reception buffer 135 is set to the high impedance state, the control section 110 detects the state of the port 111 to discriminate whether a wired remote controller is connected to the terminal 123 and a wired mode or a wireless mode can be set on the basis of the discrimination.
