SOLUTION: This latent image forming device is provided with the image carrier 1 provided with at least a photo-conductive layer 1b and the ferroelectric layer 1c in this order on a conductive substrate 1a, an orientation polarization means 2 for applying voltage to the image carrier 1 so that the ferroelectric layer 1c is orientation-polarized in a unidirection, a selective exposure means 9 for selectively exposing the image carrier 1, and an electric field applying means 3 for generating the electric field by applying voltage opposite to the voltage for polarizing the photo-conductive layer to the image carrier 1 at the same time the exposure of the selective exposure means 9. The electric charge is generated on the photo-conductive layer 1b by the exposure of the selective exposure means 9, this electric charge is moved by the electric field generated by the electric field applying means 3, the polarization direction of the ferroelectric layer 1c on the exposing section is inverted, and the polarization inverted latent image is formed.
