PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal photographic printer capable of accurately and easily detecting troubles of an exposure system caused by the aging of a liquid crystal panel and the soil, etc., without using a light reflected by photosensitive material. SOLUTION: A polished glass 51 is arranged on an image formation surface P, and the light quantity of an image projected on the rear side of the polished glass 51 is detected by a sensor 52A arranged opposite to an exposure system across a photographic printing paper 31 carrying path, then, the emitted light quantity of each LED 21A to 23A is controlled based on the output of the sensor 52A. By arranging the sensor for detecting the light quantity on the image formation surface of the exposure system on the opposite side of the exposure system across the photosensitive material carrying path, the state of the exposure system at the same day can be detected prior to carrying the photosensitive material in the case of starting a printing operation in the morning, then, it is effective for making the density of the printed image uniform.
