PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently drying an absorbing material, a drying device utilizing the method for efficiently drying the material, and a cooling and/or heating apparatus utilizing the material associated with the drying device. SOLUTION: In order to dry an absorbing material 4 by directly supplying a current in the case of drying the material 4, a distance h between electrodes 13 is set to satisfy the formula: h2<=(96×V2÷ρ)÷(a×b) (wherein h is a distance between the electrodes, V is an applied power,ρis resistivity of the material containing an operating medium of a saturated state, a is a specific heat of the material, b is a bulk density when the material is filled), thereby effectively drying the material.
