PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an electronic shutter compensate a photographing condition in which exposure quantity control cannot fully be controlled by a mechanical shutter by switching a first photographing mode for generating a video signal by exposure quantity control using the mechanical shutter in accordance with an instruction of photographing operation performance and a second photographing mode for generating a continuous video signal by the electronic shutter. SOLUTION: An electronic camera is provided with an image pickup means which photoelectrically converts a subject and generates a video signal, a mechanical shutter which shields a luminous flux incident in the image pickup means, and an operation means which is operated so as to instruct photographing operation performance. Furthermore, the camera is constituted so that it has a photographing control means which can switch a first photographing mode that generates the video signal by exposure quantity control using the mechanical shutter in accordance with an instruction of the photographing operation performance by the operation means and a second photographing mode that generates a continuous video signal by the electronic shutter by the photographing means in accordance with the instruction of the photographing operation performance by the operation means. |
