PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To store image data obtained by a hand scanner in a device main body, as necessary. SOLUTION: A facsimile equipment is provided with a hand scanner B, which is composed independently and in a communicable way with a device main body A and can accumulate image data obtained by reading it from manuscript paper in a transfer memory B2 to transfer it to the body A. Then, a control part B1 of the scanner B designates a data storage mode as an operation mode to the body A, reads the image data from the memory B2, and transmits it to the body A. A CPU 1 of the body A receives data transmitted from the scanner B in the body A and also stores and manages the data received in that way in a mail box of a RAM 3, while making the data correspond to a data management mode designated by the part B1.
