PURPOSE: An exhaust gas purifying catalyst for a selective or a non-selective catalytic reduction is provided which reduces nitrogen oxide and oxidizes carbon monoxide at a low temperature and a high space velocity. CONSTITUTION: A process for producing the exhaust gas purifying catalyst comprises the steps of: making water slurry of at least two fire-resistant inorganic oxides selected from the group consisting of B2O3, Bi2O3, In2O3, Cr2O3 and wash coating the slurry on a honeycomb and then drying the wash coated slurry at 120°C for 6 hrs. or more; supporting metal aqueous solution on the honeycomb and drying the supported metal on the inorganic oxides at 120°C or more for 6 hrs. or more. The metal aqueous solution contains at least one metal element selected from the group consisting of Ba, Ag, Au, Ni, Co, V, Pt, Ti.
