Process for treatment of effluents containing Cr salts, especially salts of Cr(III), comprises subjecting the effluent, which is at or is adjusted to a pH of below 6, to an electrochemical treatment in a reactor containing an anode and a cathode such that the Cr(III) is converted into Cr(VI), and recovering the treated effluent.
